Every time I make this cake, it vanishes as soon as it’s ready. Completely finished. No leftovers! I have since resorted to making a double recipe every time and the results are the same. My family loves this cake. It is so delicious and it’s great for a packed lunch.

  1. Cream the butter and sugar together, then add the egg and beat until light and fluffy.
  2. Sift the dry ingredients together. Add them to the butter mixture, alternately with milk.
  3. Spoon half of the batter in a greased baking dish. Cover with apple slices and spoon the remaining batter over. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F/180°C for about 40 minutes or until done.
  4. Topping

  5. Melt the butter and honey together and pour over the cake after removing it from the oven. Serve warm.
