I am one person who is not shy to ask for a recipe whenever I eat homemade food that is delicious. I had this yogurt cherry cake at a friend’s birthday party and I enjoyed it so much that I tracked down the person who baked it until I found them. It was baked by one of my friend’s workmates, and she was more than happy to share her recipe with me. She said I could also use strawberries instead of cherries, but I have yet to try that variation. If you try the strawberry variation, please let me know in the comments how it was.

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl, mix with an electric beater for 2 – 3 minutes.
  2. Spoon the mixture into a greased 20cm baking ring tin and bake at 320°F/160°C for 1 hour or until a knife comes out clean when inserted into the center of the cake.
  3. Icing

  4. Mix the icing sugar with boiling water to make a spreading consistency.
  5. Spread over the cake and decorate with cherries.
